Petition Being Circulated To Make Abortion A Constitutional Right in Arizona

To Pastors, Priests, and Parish Offices:

There is a plan by a pro-abortion group to enshrine abortion permanently into our AZ Constitution through an amendment called “Arizona Abortion Access Act”. This amendment would allow abortion up to birth for any reason deemed necessary by the medical provider (often the abortionist). Since September, the group has been gathering signatures with the goal of getting their proposed amendment (see attached) on the 2024 ballot. Those collecting signatures are using deceptive tactics, for example not mentioning abortions would be allowed through all nine months, to manipulate people who otherwise would not sign or support the initiative.

We can assist each other in helping the flock become familiar with this violent assault on life in our community and to engage your parishioners with the truth. A group of Catholics like me are contacting parishes and Respect Life leaders in the state. We can help put together a bulletin notice or announcement from the pulpit if you are interested.

Any action to support or participate in abortion, including signing or promoting the signing of this ballot initiative petition, is a mortal sin and should be avoided. Thank you for helping protect life, helping the laity know how to protect the unborn and mothers, and preparing us to face judgment when our time comes.
